Heating Options
Heating Technology that suits your needs
There are many ways to increase the temperature of your pool, each of which has their own unique advantage. Here are the different methods available and links to our preferred suppliers, whom we have selected based on outstanding quality, durability and technology.
Solar Thermal Heating
Solar Pool Heating is the most environmentally friendly method of actively increasing the temperature of a pool. In most cases, it is also the most economical way.
Pool water is pumped through tubes or collectors, which are exposed to the sunlight, warming the water inside like a garden hose in the sun. The warm water is recirculated into the pool and increases the overall temperature.
While the principle seems simple enough, the differences are in the detail: How much pipe is required, what material is used, how much heat can be absorbed, etc.
Solartech recommends Ecosun non-metal solar collectors, which rate constantly number one in every industry-wide durability and performance test, offer freeze protection and a ten year Cockatoo Warranty.

Heat Pumps
Heat pumps are a bit like an air-conditioner. Heat from the air is extracted and transferred into the water, which is pumped from the pool through the heat pump. Electricity is used to make this process happen.A heat pump will maintain your pool at a comfortable 28 degrees or more because it extracts heat from the air, and then delivers up to 5 times more energy in heat than it consumes in electricity. Thus being able to swim in your own warm, heated pool, even during the coldest months of the year.
Pacific Heat Pumps are made with fully stainless steel cabinets for long life and come with a ten year warranty on titanium heated exchanger and a 5 year warranty on compressor parts.

Gas Pool Heating
Many pool and spa heating systems need to be left operating continuously simply because they take days to heat up. Only gas heating provides realistic heating on demand. Whether your pool, or spa, is in a warm sub tropical climate or a cool temperate climate only gas can realistically heat your pool in a few hours. Once the weekend or holidays are finished, simply turn your heater off and save energy and money.
Alternatively, gas heating can be used to boost solar heating systems, giving you more freedom to use your pool when sudden cold snaps arise.
After nearly 10 years of intensive research and development by AstralPool Hurlcon, Australia's largest pool heating manufacturer, has resulted in the Viron Gas Pool and Spa Heater. Using revolutionary technology, Viron saves energy, reduces greenhouse emissions and reduces water consumption in your pool or spa. And importantly for your family, reduces operating costs without compromising your lifestyle.

Pool Covers
Covering your pool during the night to keep the warmth in makes sense.
Daisy Pool Covers have taken this simple principle to a new level and have developed a cover, which lets the heat in and traps it inside the pool. This increases the water temperature significantly.
As an additional benefit, covering your pool while not in use also reduces evaporation by 97%.
